Just a quick tutorial or tip on making a doll size head piece for Halloween – Cat’s ears, Devil’s Horns, crowns… etc
– the long slumbering star wars fan in me. So, after crying over the wonderful The Force Awakens trailer, I took a brunette Barbie doll and tried to paint her as Rey.
Not perfect, considering trying to transfer a generic barbie face, but if and when the actual Daisy Ridley face sculpts (oh how I wish for a doll and not some ugly action figures) appear, they would be so nice to repaint and most likely to gain nice resemblance. In the meantime, this Rey doll brightens up my day, waiting for the movie 🙂
And no, I don’t have tickets… I don’t have anyone to go with so I didn’t want to try to get opening night tickets for the fear my social anxiety might prevent me from going alone
And then there would be an empty seat at the opening. Not fair for the one who didn’t get a ticket.
It really has been that bad lately, I’ll just try covering my ears from gossip after opening and sneak in to see a day show some time soon…
Made her clothes out of what ever I had at home at the time… so not accurate (yet) but I think something she could wear.//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js
If you are on deviantart and like fashion dolls – or not yet have an account but might like to join, it’s like a social media/ art portfolio platform but with people posting their art and creations instead of selfies 😀
Here is the BarbieFans deviantArt group I was asked to moderate, otherwise it might have been closed. Wouldn’t want that… Instead, there is now fantastic Barbie doll customization gallery, and even the genius that is Noel Cruz submits to the group 😀 In the Gallery you got to scroll Barbie and doll photos and fan art people have submitted.
If you’re new to dA, I’m happy to help you with the site 🙂 I know, it pretty much still looks the same it did 7 years ago when I joined… but unlike most social media today, there is very little trolling or bullying. Artist want to encourage each other!
The age limit to join is 13 (like everything online) and I believe mature filter is set on by default, and you have to manually set it off if you wish to explore the more saucy art posted there.
BarbieFans group however does not allow mature content at all.
As promised, the winner of the Halloween costume poll gets a pattern!
The winner is… VAMPIRES!
This is part 1 of 3 (+extra 4 for accessories may appear later in the month) Other parts will be published during weekend!

Wanted to go for a more traditional, Victorian / Dracula / hammer horror movies inspired vampire costume for fashion dolls.
The costume patterns are for the cape, mermaid/vampire skirt and corset!
The corset top has three sizes, one for the traditional 11inch wasp waist doll, modern barbie doll and monster high size.
The skirt is barbie size, but can be fitted for smaller figures if you take in the seams.
The cape is pretty much universal, but you may wish to cut the neckline a little smaller for tiny dolls.
If you want a slightly longer cape, you can print the Witch cape pattern from last year!
Maybe tutorials for Halloween Accessories will be inspired, so please subscribe blog / merineiti youtube channelto not miss out 🙂
PATTERNS UNDER THE CUT:
Whoa been editing videos for youtube (Halloween Vampire Costume for fashion doll tutorial became three videos long!) and agreed to step in as the admin for BarbieFans deviantart group. Hoping to stir some life into it, so if you are on deviantart, or consider joining and like dolls please check it out 🙂
ps. I’ll be uploading patterns tomorrow, and the videos will be posted 1st October onwards
The video is finally up! So many things went wrong, original footage didn’t work, recording app didn’t function (I usually record with phone, it’s better than my laptop) and what not… Quickly wrote closed captions in English, in the case the sound is an issue, so click on CC to enable/disable the captions 🙂
Feel free to like, comment and subscribe, the next video will be up 1st of October and it is HALLOWEEN special! (Well, most likely I try to upload the video on 29-30th to allow time to fix any issues and write captions, but it will be available on this blog on 1st, youtube subcribers may see it before that)
I got new doll to make clothes to!!! It is Integrity Toys Color Infusion Ace Mcfly!
But he is pretty much the same as fashion royalty hommes… I can’t wait to tailor custom clothes for him! Just please don’t hate me if I tell him to get his hair cut…
So, hoping to get a nice gentleman’s wardrobe for him, and some for sale at Custom Fashion Doll Clothes etsy shop…
This is Ace and Janice. I like their height difference – Integrity toys (fashion royalty and Color infusion boys are the same) hommes are taller than Ken dolls, and Janice with a Kumik body is a little shorter than a Barbie. So, Ace and Janice look like a thin 6’2 man and a fit 5’4” woman. Janice is an action figure I bid on ebay out of a whim and won. Then fell in love with her face of total unimpressement… She looks sort of like Kristen Steward but times two, so that total blankness of emotions becames an actual vivid emotion of itself. I think she might have lots more new adventures in merineiti instagram feed 🙂
