skulls&roses wallet, smartphone case and clutch/handbag all in one
I am a stranger amongst female beings. I detest giant handbags. I know, they were/are very fashionable and EVERYONE had them, and even stylists were praising them because “big bag will make you look smaller and slimmer”. I call bs, giant handbags only make you look like you have a giant handbag. And why would you want to look smaller anyway? Maybe it’s just because I’m short. Even if I were double my weight, I wouldn’t look BIG, I would look ROUND… so just to look small sounds like a weird way to choose accessories to me. My personal opinion is to choose appealing colors and anything that fits your personal taste.
So, back to giant bags, I see no reason to daily carry around a bag that is bigger than my weekend bag, to only hold your essentials!
I do carry one big tote kind of bag when I go groceries (or to the library) to avoid having to get plastic bags, but normally I go smaller and gladly I found a new jacket that has lots of pockets and still manages to look slimline, so no bags necessary.
BUT I do have that bloody big smartphone that needs cushions and be saved from all the stuff it encounters daily on itself.
And my current phone is too big for my old wrist clutch (that I made precicely big enough to carry my old phone, keys, cards/cash and lipstick – very convenient to take for a jog and to go clubbing) so this is why I made this wallet. It is pretty much fitted around my phone, so as to make it as small as possible. I was happy to find out it didn’t have to be bigger than this, it still fits comfortably in my hand, and as it folds, it’s manageable with one hand, easy to slip out the phone to check it, and easy to use when paying for things. And the print is awesome x)
I want my handbag/clutch size manageable. This fits in my hand perfectly, yet it has room to hold my phone, keys, cards, cash… maybe even an eyeliner and little lipstick
I love Alexander Henry fabrics. They are strange, but not as macabre as skulls and skeletons usually are because they are always mixed with a sense of humor, not gore.

I see you sew, so it’s basically just lots of different size rectangles overlapping each other, pretty much like the needle case in your blog just with more compartments, and preferably thin padding (I used 2mm craft foam between fabrics here, and the sort of thin polyester padding you may use in quilting on another one, foam looks smoother but demands more power on the machine to sew) on phone case part to save it from scratching and hopefully prevents it from breaking even if the wallet would fall to the ground.
